Hill House School Falcons Fly High in National Prep School Qualifiers
With eight of their ten man squad from Doncaster Falcons ( under 10s )
Hill House Prep school entered new territory on Sunday 3rd February by entering
The National Schools Rugby Tournament. The North and Midlands tournament was
held at Cambridge and such was their connection with Doncaster Rugby Club ,
coach Chris Keywarth even asked permission to wear the blue, red and white of
Doncaster Falcons. Pyscologically he thought it was worth 5 points a game !!!
With eight teams entering , a top two finish would gain them entry
into the Finals to be played in Epsom on March 2nd.
The group stages produced some hard fought victories against Bronte (Bradford)
15-0 , Bedford 25-0 and St Faiths ( Cambridge ) 15-0.The semi-finals produced a
meeting with local rivals Q.E.G.S of Wakefield. A dramatic 10-10 result meant
extra time. With scores still level after extra time Hill House progressed
having won most matches in the group stages.
They couldn't quite finish things off in the final against a strong
Warwick School but still qualified for THE FINALS in Epsom.Mr Keywarth said he
was very proud of all the players and said it was a true team effort. Quite an
achievment for a school of our size . Obviously it is a major help having so
many players who play regularly at Castle Park on Sunday mornings.
