During weather conditions which can only be described as anarchic today Castle Park was host to Look North cameras. The Northampton game wasn't the story, although it was discussed, but the continuing involvement of Knights players in the relationship between Doncaster College and Castle Park.
Degree level students we looking for sportsmen to help with coursework on psychology within sports, and several of the first team squad agreed to discuss the subject in informal sessions.
The subjects varied from mental preparation to the affect of adrenaline during games, to superstitions and the mental effect of recovery time. Donovan Van Vuuren, having recently completed his Masters, felt it was interesting to be part of the study rather than the student.
Spencer Davey and Tom Luke also enjoyed taking part. Having been interviewed in the chaotic weather earlier Tom appreciated the second part of the news feature being indoors and a lot more comfortable. "It was good, interesting stuff. A lot of your preparation and rituals are your own so it felt good to discuss them. The questions were well thought out, so you forgot about the TV camera."
An extra bonus from the article saw Castle Park featured on tonight's look North Weather as the swaying of the goalposts caught the cameraman's eye.
The feature, which is about the squads involvement in education locally, will be screened either this friday, or next, as a run up to one of the Northampton games. It is worth noting this isn't strictly a Sports article so will probably not appear in the sport section of the news.
