Doncaster U13's strength in depth was on display today with a second game
played against Rotherham.  This team included 9 players selected to the South
Yorkshire squad and proved too strong for the away team with Doncaster running
out 43 - 7 winners.
Doncaster dominated in this encounter at Castle Park.
The game was very much a forward orientated with Doncaster exerting dominance
very early on and scoring after 5 minutes through No8 Rory Kynman picking from
the base of a scrum and bullocking over from 5m out.
The strong wind was always
going to have an impact on this game but it was Doncaster who made best use by
keeping the ball tight and to hand.  5 minutes later Doncaster added a second
with scrum half Mitchell Ashman sniping down the blind side to score; Sam Allen
converted.
The third try came from a line out steal by prop Josh Whelan with a
strong run through the Rotherham defence to cross the line after 13 minutes.
The
last move of the half resulted in Rory Kynman scoring his second try.  Again it
was a simple pick and drive from a dominant and steady scrum 10 meters out.  Sam
Allen converted the try and the first half ended with Doncaster leading 24 -
0.
The fift try was a result of good back row support.  Doncaster won a clean
ruck ball and fly half Sam Allen cut through the Rotherham defence and popped
the ball 10m out to Nos.8 Rory Kynman who finished the move with his 3rd try of
the day scoring  under the posts.  Sam Allen added the 2 points.
Doncaster’s
sixth try was scored by winger Andrew Matthewson who was in good form and
finished off a good passing move out pacing 2 defenders to score in the corner.

The final score of the game was again through the forwards.  A scrappy piece of
play resulted in a ruck 5m off Rotherham's line.  Prop Josh Fowler collected
the ball from the ruck and dived over for his second and Doncaster's sixth try
of the game.  Sam Allen added his fourth conversion of the day.
