Doncaster Knights hit the road for a trip to Solihull this Saturday to face a club fighting for its First Division Rugby survival, Pertemps Bees. The day the Birmingham side visited Castle Park will live on in the memory of Donovan Van Vuuren as he managed an impressive hat trick within a 27 – 14 win in front of the home fans.
The Second from bottom club, managed by former Knight Russ Earnshaw, lost narrowly away to London Welsh last weekend. The bonus point enough to lift them above Cornish All Blacks in the league table. Rescued from relegation in the 2005/06 season due to the increase in League one teams to 16 Pertemps bees enjoyed a good 2006/07 season finishing a respectable 8th during that season.
The Knights are enjoying a run of form equal to their early season performances. An excellent win over Nottingham Rugby last weekend capping off an impressive run of performances that have seen them shake of those early December blues. Having won their last five games the Knights are looking not to underestimate a Pertemps Bees side fighting for League One survival.
With no new fitness worries after the bruising battle against Nottingham the Knights may look to an unsettled side, but with stars like Luke Gross back in contention Lynn Howells could harbour thoughts of shuffling the pack to give more players game time before the upcoming double header v Northampton 2nd and 10th of February.
