Includes Dave Butlers video interview with Tom Davies
An interesting tie in this round of the EDF Trophy as Doncaster Knights host Richmond, a team on the way back from near oblivion 10 years on. The Tetley’s Bitter Cup in 1988 saw Premiership Richmond , featuring World Cup 2007 Argentinean Captain Agustin Pichot and a host of Internationals, host minnows Doncaster Rugby Union . Richmond won the game 58 points to 8, but now face a Knights side in a much higher league coming off 3 good wins and performances.
Richmond top London League one, and look to a return to the National leagues after a 10 year exile brought on by financial problems. “Winning is a habit so we will have to take this team seriously” Lynn Howells commented, and the inclusion of so many regular players indicates how seriously he is taking this game. “We have to stamp our authority on the game in the first 20 minutes” stated Full Back Wes Davies, the whole squad indicated how they are under no impression that this will be an easy game.
Giant American Lock Luke Gross is in the starting 15, his first appearance since his injury at the World Cup and the man from Indiana is sure to cause all sorts of problems for the Richmond team. Ben Phillips makes a welcome return at Hooker after a stop start season.
